The auction UI is where Storage Hunters Open World players spend or make their fortune. Every session presents storage lockers with partially visible contents, a bidding timer, and competing NPC rivals who escalate prices on premium units. Understanding each UI element before your first bid prevents costly mistakes.
Auction Flow
- Travel to an auction location marked on the map
- Enter the auction area and wait for the next locker presentation
- Preview visible items — look for mutation glows and safes
- Calculate your maximum profitable bid with the mutation calculator
- Place incremental bids using the UI buttons or click interface
- Win the locker, pay your bid, and load items into your vehicle
Reading Locker Previews
Not all items are visible before bidding — that is the core gamble of storage auctions. However, mutation effects often glow on previewed items, giving clues about profit potential. Reference the mutation tier list when you spot S-tier or A-tier glows. Dirty mutations may also be visible, warning you to bid low per the auction strategy tier list.
Bidding Tactics
Set a hard cap before bidding starts and never exceed it mid-auction — escalation bias causes overpayment. Let NPC rivals win unprofitable units. For premium lockers, bid in small increments to test competitor resolve. New players should practice on affordable units following our beginner auction guide.
